Multisensory Literacy

We use a multisensory approach to language instruction involving visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic stimuli, following the same systematic approach in each session.

Students are taught explicitly in order to develop an understanding of the connection between sounds and symbols, and for this process to be repeated many times for it to be automatically achieved.

Students cover handwriting, reading, and spelling phonetic words, spelling patterns, morphology, etymology, dictation, and reading.

We use a flexible teaching plan with students, and adjustments are made during each session through informal diagnostic assessment. Students move as quickly or as slowly as necessary.

Two Talented Teachers

Multisensory Numeracy

After an initial assessment of a student’s knowledge of number facts, we work toward filling these gaps.

Many students, given the opportunity to learn to use a variety of methods, quickly begin to take control of their own learning as their self-esteem builds. If a student is unable to grasp a new concept, it is important that the information is presented differently.

We take time to ensure students understand and are confident to apply the knowledge they gain to new situations. We aim to remove maths anxiety and facilitate learning in a stress-free environment. By reducing cognitive load and establishing automaticity, students are able to apply their numeracy knowledge to a wide range of mathematical concepts.

Assistance With Research and Assessment Tasks

For some students, the transition to high school can be a daunting one.

We provide students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning differences an opportunity to work with a teacher one-on-one to develop the necessary skills to plan, research, write and edit their own work.

Online Assistance

If it is not possible to physically attend weekly sessions, your child can still access specialist sessions via Zoom. Currently, we have students in Vietnam, Vanuatu, and interstate. In our modern times of COVID, students who are positive but are well can work online.
